B-rad, got UPnP is recognized my Hp Media Server right off the bat. I can see the folders, Also see a search folder, but it is empty. If I go to all files in video, picture or music. It said empty. Is there away to get the cover art for movies to show up on wdtv from my server. Have not been able to do this yet.

b-rad, I very much appreciate the UPnP-djmount.app.bin pack which works pretty well for me. However, I have not been able to get my hands on the patch provided by cow for streaming files >4GB. I would like to incorporate the patch into my own version of djmount fixing a nasty "off-by-one" bug that exists in djmount-0.71 and which prevents it from being able to stream data from my Synology DS209 NAS (see my post here: http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?topic=1308.15) Can you provide the patch? Or could you incorporate the (very simple) fix outlined in my posting and release version 0.2.3 of UPnP-djmount.app.bin?

Kai

<<< edit: was almost positive I included his large filesize patch. I definitely don't have it anymore, thats for sure. When I find time I'll try to remember to update it. --b-rad >>>

Seems to be a problem with comments being erased. Had a detailed comment about the problem on here but disappeared. So the short version is, this works great as far as being able to see/play files larger than 2GB, BUT the FF/REW/Resume does not work on any of those files. It works perfect on the smaller files.

b-rad, is there anything that can be done for this?

<<< edit: UPnP is often 'on-the-fly' so seeking is probably disabled. --b-rad >>>

Now It seems to work, I unplugged the sucker and when starting up it showed both the samba mount and the uPnP works too. Super duper... took me four hours, but the result is well worth it...

Sorry, but I'm going nuts right now. I read about this firmware in a German computer magazine today. Next stop was getting the WDTV HD and a compatible USB LAN adapter (Wintech LAU 15).

Then I upgraded the firmware, hooked up the LAN adapter and yay, DHCP worked nicely, the WDTV hat an IP, the control lamp blinking away merrily.

So far for the good news. Now I'm trying desperately to get the box to access the shared foldes on my Windows Home Server. So far ever machine that had something remotely resembling an OS on it had no problems doing exactly that. My Philips TV by UPNP-AV, my LinVDR by Samba mount, and so forth.

Not the WDTV though. I have put the djmount on the stick, I tried the samba app with
xmount //192.168.0.48/Videos Videos cifs user=guest, passoword=

I switch on, switch off, the usb stick is blinking while the machine winds down. I restart and open the Videos folder and all it says is "This folder is empty".

What am I doing wrong? Can someone help. I'm truly stuck...

Looks like comments are getting lost here? I wrote a comment to confirm that yes, using Cidero (http://www.cidero.com/) I can see the WDTV as a Renderer, and make it play a video or audio file

Update: It looks like it contains the same firmware as the DSM-320, see http://forums.tversity.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=840&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a. The Server string is the same, and TVersity recognises it as a DSM-320

Yep. Using Cidero (http://www.cidero.com/) the WDTV shows up as renderer (devicename "000000000000"), and then I can tell it to play a video. Only issue is that the video isn't visible until you open e.g. a photo through the OSD, and then the OSD closes again after a few seconds. mp3's work too, but it sounded chunky (may have to do with the feedback events it's providing via UPnP).

So it kind of works, but it isn't sync'ed with the GUI

UPnP messages (UDP multicast) look like:

NOTIFY * HTTP/1.1
LOCATION: http://192.168.1.18:58922/
HOST: 239.255.255.250:1900
SERVER: POSIX, UPnP/1.0, Intel MicroStack/1.0.1497
NTS: ssdp:alive
USN: uuid:a8af5494-0000-0000-0000-cec78a16fc05::urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:RenderingControl:1
CACHE-CONTROL: max-age=1800
NT: urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:RenderingControl:1

<<< edit: crazy >>>
