WDLXTV – enhanced WDTV firmware 0.5

WDLXTV is a souped up unofficial firmware for the Western Digital WDTV. It is based off the 1.02.06 firmware, but with many extra features. Similar to my dvdmod firmware, this is a permanent flash, just like an official upgrade. There is no Linux knowledge required to use WDLXTV.

0.5
* based on firmware 1.02.06

You may find the latest release at the WDLXTV page.

Post any bugs you come across at wdtvforum and don’t forget to check out the WDTV HD player unofficial firmware wiki.

I’ve spent a tremendous amount of time hacking the WDTV firmware, so if you appreciate my efforts please donate a little something using the link below : ) Thanks & enjoy.

Works (as usual) fine !

My 1 Tb HDD is recognized in under a minute, and menus navigation remains smooth even when my BT client is running :)

I want to congratulate you for your work! I hate bitching but I think I found a little something. Using this release, all mkv with external greek subtitles, cause the wdtv to freeze after a few minutes. When I close the subtitles everything plays normally. If you care to try it, use the latest –snip– with this subtitle and see for your self. –snip–

<<< edit: Thanks ;) Its not me though, see this post and this post for details. –b-rad >>>

Great work sir, thanks a lot.

Just curious…
today I checked out the new official beta 1.02.07 and I with my extreme surprise it mounted an ext3 partition all alone on a drive I connected in error.
Any one can confirm they really added ext3 support in official release?

<<< edit: :D I see it in the OSD binaries, looks like wd listened to me (and others probably ;) ). I was about to release a new version, but now I’ll have to retool things a bit due to your find. –b-rad >>>
