Anything based off the new 1.03 FW, or have you stopped working on the 1st gen FW..

<<< edit: I released a 1.03.01 firmware well over a year ago. http://b-rad.cc/wdlxtv Refer to forum.wdlxtv.com for further support & discussion. --b-rad >>>

Nice stuff, I just wonder if i uppgrade to wdlxtv, can i later put back the official firmware by rename it to a higher name like uppgrading it normally or do i have to do something special to remove wdlxtv? Thanx

Anders

<<< edit: of course, exactly like you say ;-) --b-rad >>>

Hi Sergio,
I'm also suffering with slow playback performance over NFS. I'm using haneWin with mount settings as:-
xmount 192.168.1.2:/DVDs DVDs nfs udp,rsize=32768,wsize=32768
What NFS server are you using?
Thank
Steve

<<< edit: My NFS's are debian or ubuntu, I'm 100% nix. I'm going to investigate the speed issues soon. --b-rad >>>

Hi

Had no idea the WDTV could do all this stuff before I bought it :)

So not being one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I've tried to install WDLXTV v0.5.5...but...once i've said yes to upgrade the firmware from the settings folder, and when the box reboots, it stops at a blank screen.

I've left it for ages and nothing :s

I tried the hard reset button but the best I get is back to the WD splash screen and thats it (no update progress bar etc).

So after I'd finished swearing a bit, I did a google search and followed the suggestion to install the latest WD firmware upgrade...to my GREAT relief, it installed and the box was back up and running.

Having that ace up my sleeve, I thought i'd try to install WDLXTV again...so deleted the WD firmware and reloaded WDLXTV firmware onto the USB drive...same result...after saying yes to upgrade, on reboot = blank screen.

Again, a reinstall of the WD firmware worked and the box works again.

I made sure media library was on, I used a WD Passport as the install drive - same that I reinstalled WD latest firmware - can't see where i'm going wrong?!

Help please - really want to get this thing networked but i'm falling at the first hurdle.

Cheers

<<< edit: my guess is that you have a U3 device with a hidden recovery cd partition on it...those aren't compatible with wdlxtv. Remove the U3 partition and you should be good. --b-rad >>>

The answer to my previous post, so everyone can know it:

if you have slow playback from NFS shares, you have to modify the xmount command, including a larger block transfer size (rsize, wsize). My xmount now is like this:

xmount 192.168.1.10://mnt/ide4/video1 NASvideo nfs rsize=32768,wsize=32768,tcp

and I can stream a whole 2 hour 1080p video without problems.

Hi B-Rad, please help with this problem:

1) installed your 0.5.3.2 + Samba
2) I can see Windows shares via CIF on my PC and play 720p perfectly. 1080p plays well for some minutes, the start to jump
3) bought a NAS (IcyBox IB-NAS4210-B), disk formatted in ext2
4) I cas see Windows shares via CIF on the NAS, and play 720p well, as on my PC
5) I set-up NFS share on the same directory on the NAS and mounted on the WDTV
6) I can see the NFS share and files into it, from the WDTV, but all files play very bad. Even files with low resolution plays for 5/6 seconds, than hangs, then play again for some second, then hangs, and so on.

What can it be ???
Please help
Thank you !!

<<< edit: not to sure what you could be encountering, NFS is much faster than CIFS...Ask at wdtvforum, someone else might know. --b-rad >>>

I must have not given it enough time to load the new firmware. Just gave it another try and it worked fine.

Just wanted to clear my own failure up so others would not be worried about trying this.
