Hey B-Rad, WDLXTV seems to be a great firmware mod, but I dont understand one thing. The tutorial on wdtvc.com you linked to says to download zorander’s experimental pack (wireless-mod.app.bin). If were using the wirelessmod-wdlxtv.app.bin-0.2 do we still need zorander's app.bin or not? Whats the difference in the two apps?

Also does the flash drive need be set up as an MS-Dos bootable device in order for app.bin packs to function?

Thanks!

<<< edit: its one wireless app.bin or the other...and there is no MS-DOS on the device, so why would you even consider that ;) --b-rad >>>

Hi
and thx for this firmware.
unfortunately I am not capable to get the linksys wlan device WUSB54G to work. Maybe I am too stupid or to little informed about this stuff. Can anybody help me?
I successfully flashed the newest fw for my wdtv and then I tried to use the latest aap.bin with a modified .dat and net.config on a properly formatted memory stick. I am doing this the right way? Please help.
CU
Roger

<<< edit: Consult the <a href="http://wdtvforum.com/" rel="nofollow">forum</a> for assistance, I do not have a compatible wireless adapter. --b-rad >>>

Hey –b-rad,

Thanks for your great work on the WDTVLIVE!
..."When I eventually get a compatible adapter I’ll be sure to update this page and perhaps make the app.bin pack a bit more plug&play. If there are any issues with this pack, report them to me (and send me any fixes/mods) and I’ll get them taken care of.

Anyone want to buy me an adapter? ;)"
==> I can send you one of my Linksys WUSB54G if you're still interested! Please let me know...

<<< edit: mailed you ;) --b-rad >>>

b-rad, just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work. I have now spent the last 3 days messing with your firmware and although I am beaten on getting wireless to work (thought I had an rt73 adapter but turned out it is not), I am going to get an Ethernet adapter and continue to play with what you have done. This has been a nice learning experience since I am still weak in the world of Linux, but am a quick learner. I hope to continue learning from yours and others before me, thanks again.

I've got a SMC EZ Connect (SMCWUSB-G) who run under linux with zd1211rw module (i think it's the same as the zd1211b in the app.bin)
but it doen't work with my wdlxtv 0.5.6.1
i think that it doen't load the firmware on my box the firmware loaded is : zd1211_ub) is it possible to :
1) get (as an options) the /var/log/message (or anything else that log error messages) on the usbdisk to see it the driver is loaded, the firmware is loaded etc ...
2) chose the firmware to load on the module loading as an option in net.config (for example, but any file is wellcome)

<<< edit: you can use <a href="http://b-rad.cc/log-saver.app.bin" rel="nofollow">log-saver</a> to obtain system logs. I don't have a compatible wireless adapter so I'm not of too much help if things don't work. --b-rad >>>

Hello!

I got wireless working on WDTV using a zydas dongle. However, I got into some trouble using it.
First, I can't connect to my router using any form of encryption (neither wep nor wpa works), I followed all tips and nothing. WEP should be simple, the only extra parameter is the shared key.
Second, and most import, I'm getting very low speeds using it. Tried to get something from my local pc using ftp, and got speeds of about 300KB/s, which is way too low.
Tried to debug it, and it seems to be the driver used on wdtv (zd1201b I think). On my local pc (running Ubuntu), it loads the zd1211rw module and I get speeds of about 3MB/s.
The modules on the app pack seems to be compiled for a 2.6.15-TvDock kernel. Could you either give me instructions on how to compile the module myself (which arch should I compile to, and where do I get these sources?), or maybe get this driver compiled and included in next release, because lots of people should benefit. Also need to add a insmod line on the init script to make sure it tries to load the module.
By the way, this little box running wdlxtv totally rocks!
Thanks!

<<< edit: <a href="http://wdtvforum.com" rel="nofollow">wdtvforum</a> would be the best place to ask. --b-rad >>>
